    I wouldn’t assume that they were destroying a functioning washing machine. To make it do what it did, they must have been powering the motor directly. I suspect that this unit’s control board burned out, and typically those cost as much to replace as the whole machine, or nearly. That fact is of course stupid, but it’s outside of the individual’s control.
    Were it me, I’d try to find a repair shop that would use it for parts. But this probably isn’t quite the spectacle of conspicuous destruction that it might appear to be.
