How To Train Your Dragon's Toothless and PG Elektrus

Kid Appeal: Did Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon inspire PG's Elektrus EV?

Another electric vehicle, another cartoon character lookalike.
Lotus Elise

Or Lotus Elise?

Berlin based electric vehicle maker PG has just launched their $367,000 Elektrus that has a max speed of 155 mph and an expected range of 215 miles on one charge. Toothless, aka Night Fury, from “How To Train Your Dragon” has a max speed of “very very fast” and an unknown range. So what’s the inspiration: Lotus or Toothless? [Inhabitat]

Obsessive Compulsive Jubbling (Guest Post)

I’m here to tell you about a little something called Obsessive Compulsive Jubbling (OCJ). What is it you ask? Well, OCJ is anytime someone takes Jubbling over the top. For example:

Jubbling: Buy a brush and groom your pets yourself instead of taking them to a professional groomer.

OCJ: Skip the brush and instead groom your cat with your tongue like in this scene from The Office.

Be sure to look for OCJ articles in the future. They will be popping up as soon as we find ‘em.

Donald Trump Willing To Scrap Plans For Hotel And Housing At His Scottish Golf Resort If Wind Towers Go Up Offshore

Donald Trump’s bullying is continuing overseas and hopefully the folks behind the offshore wind turbines in Scotland won’t knuckle under. Trump has taken it to a new level and he is now threatening to not build the planned hotel and housing at his golf resort to protest Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group’s offshore wind turbines that his spokesperson Trump Wind Turbinedescribes as an “ugly industrial park directly off the shoreline.” Marine Scotland will decide soon if they’ll go forward with the turbines. For environmentalists, this could be a double-win – no more development on the protected Scottish coast and they get their wind turbines. But if they’re looking to compromise, we proposed a solution in Sep 2011 that might satisfy both parties – Trump gets to see his name and Scotland gets their renewable energy. Behringer’s iNuke iPod Dock: Does This Beast Arrive Behind A Tow Truck?

Behringer iNuke iPod DockWhy build it? Because like the biggest skateboard or the fattest twins, it just had to be produced. Behringer’s iNuke iPod dock costs $30,000, weighs 700 lbs, consumes 10,000 watts of power and is infinitely unnecessary. [Gizmodo]

Magnificent Revolution Wants You To Pedal To Earn Your Entertainment

Magnificent RevolutionStarted back in 2007, Adam Walker’s Magnificent Revolution wants to challenge us to think about and make a connection to the electricity we consume. It’s always available when we need it but what does it really take to generate? Their traveling Magnificent Cycle Cinema offers an outdoor movie in exchange for your pedaling. Eight riders on stationery bikes will create enough power to drive a 4000 lumen projector and deliver 500 watts of audio. Easily enough brightness and sound to support an audience of up to 50.

The Sol Cinema - Solar Powered Movie HouseThe connection between active pedal power and electricity generation is key to Magnificent Revolution’s message. The solar powered Sol Cinema also shows movies to up to 8 people but passively collects power through solar panels.

Hopefully Magnificent Revolution can reach the right audience. Not the audience that is aware of their energy consumption and what it takes to generate but the folks who don’t know and with Mag Rev’s help, may be able to connect the dots. Check out their website for more information on MR’s involvement in schools and their bicycle power generating solutions. [SmartPlanet]
