The Wall-Mounted LaunchPort iPad Inductive Charging System Seems Useful. The STRUT Version Seems Useless.

STRUT LaunchPort inductive Charging iPad StandYou know you’re NOT onto something when the accessory your purchasing for your iPad costs more than twice the price of the device. Welcome the STRUT LaunchPort. It’s a chrome-plated, inductive-charging stand for the iPad that will sell complete for $1250.

Not sure why the folks at LaunchPort decided to STRUT it up; their original wall-mounted, inductive charging system was more affordable and looked like a novel way to share an iPad. Of course, the STRUT LaunchPort isn’t the first over-the-top iAccessory. Back in December 2011, we wrote about the $30,000, car-sized Behringer iNuke iPhone speaker.

Jubbling has posted several articles about the advantages of using the low-power consuming iDevices as viewing alternatives to larger televisions. We’ve also written about iAccessories that use very few materials to prop-up and amplify your iDevices. Unfortunately, the STRUT LaunchPort is going in the wrong direction. That’s why we tapped into the brain trust here at Jubbling, bribed a 9-year old with pizza and asked him to build an alternative to the STRUT.

Duplo built iPad standSorry but he could not figure the whole induction charging thing so you’ll have to manually plug-in the power adapter. But on the plus side, the Duplo-based stand he built is solid and only cost us three pieces of pizza to manufacture. [Gizmodo, ChipChick and LaunchPort]

Surprise! $1,000,000 Gold-Plated Vacuum Cleaner Is Not A Big Seller. Tired Idea To Gain Web Traffic With Shock-Value Still Works Though.

$1 Million Vacuum CleanerDid you hear about that $1,000,000 gold-plated Kirby looking vacuum for sale that hit the market with its own rap song? Probably not because it ain’t selling. I did hear about it and even read the dum back story on how its inventor came up with the dubious appliance.

That’s why I need a time machine. If I found one and could make one trip, I’d go back to the moment just before I visited the $1 million vacuum website and I’d stomp my laptop and smack myself for taking the bait. As it is now, that’s 5 minutes I’ll never get back. Where does this story fall in with Jubbling? Probably the part that encourages people to avoid bad ideas and wasteful consumption. [Gizmodo]

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestmail And Coca-Cola Partner On Ekocycle To Sell Overpriced Shit Made From Recycled Plastic. teams up with Coca-Cola to create Ekocycle

“Ah-ha-ha. Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated? Good night.”
Johnny Rotten, Jon 14, 1978
Sex Pistol’s final concert

Johnny Rotten was well aware that he and his Sex Pistol bandmates had let their audience down. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ekocycle proudly used some of Mr. Rotten’s quote in their mission statement.

Ekocycle is a partnership between and Coca-Cola and their goal is to bring some “cool” to recycled products and the overall green movement. What better way to start cooling green up than by incorporating some recycled plastic into the Beats brand headphones and then sell them for a cool $349. How’s that for cool? Save the environment by dropping an over-priced $349 for a set of already over-priced headphones.

I would’ve loved to have been a fly on the wall in the big Ekcocycle / / Coke meeting when they laughed at all the jackasses who might buy their green message and headphones. Do you think honestly gives a rat’s ass about the environment or is it all about the green he’s going to make? For goodness sake, he arrived at a meeting on climate change in a helicopter.

When I started working on Jubbling, I truly believed that businesses would consume less because it made fiscal sense and there are many examples of companies that have reduced and saved. But Ekocycle is different. It was created to exploit the market and the trends associated with all things green and they’re not good at hiding it.
Coca-Cola and You - EkocycleSo to the people who care about the planet and want to consume less – please do not buy these freaking crazy-expensive headphones. and Coca Cola are dead wrong for thinking that we’re too stupid to see their true motives. Ekocycle is all about the green that’ll go into their bank accounts and not the green they want us to believe. [Huffington Post]

Monstrous Trimaran Superyacht Is So Big That You Can Park A Car In It.

UltraLuxum Yachting CXL Concept Trimaran

If you can afford it, you can consume it.

Besides being wind powered, I don’t think much else about this massive, floating and car-toting trimaran superyacht concept from UltraLuxum Yachting is Jubbling. I was going to skip it until I read $kaycog’s comment about the car-on-boat trimaran concept and it became a little more Jubworthy. [Jalopnik]

Boat on top of car.
