Taking a bite out of Ebay, Ecoatm and Craigslist, Amazon is now offering its own trade-in program where users can recycle electronics, textbooks, video games and movies. In exchange for your previously loved goods and after reviewing your submission, Amazon will issue a credit to your account that you can use on their website. They’ll even pay for your return shipping. Amazon’s trade-in store is still in beta as they work out the kinks but it makes total sense to return our old cellphones and video games to the place where we probably bought them.

Worm Compost Tower Creates And Delivers Compost Naturally

After spending $200+ on my tumbler compost bin, seeing this Macgyver in-garden worm composter brings on a little Jubbling envy. It’s a basic idea and seems like it should work. The video explains it – put your compost solution directly in your garden, in this case a bottom perforated PVC pipe, and create and distribute your compost at the same time. Cut out the middleman, which is you, and put the worms in charge of spreading the compost
Champagne Environmentalist: Do As I Say, Not As I Do
Question: Is the net effect of celebrity support in eco causes a positive or do they put off as many people as they attract?
There is a great article on The Guardian’s Green Living Blog, Hypocrisy of champagne environmentalists is deceitful and distracting. Its author, Ed Gillespie, writes about how celebrities and public figures beg
us to live a more sustainable lifestyle and yet enjoy a lifestyle most of us can only dream of. He offers several examples of eco-celebrities and their extreme consumption.
Jubbling posted an article in May 2010 about the hypocritical nature of Hollywood’s preaching and its reality – Hollywood Love$ Green Message$. How Does It Feel About Jubbling?. Being an eco-celebrity seems to be the 2000′s equivalent to the 1990′s recovering addicts; it gets you in the news. I have a feeling that Eco-Celebrity Rehab is just around the corner.

There are stories out there that merit the cycle of agonizing over our thoughts and limited writing abilities for four hours, and others that might be interesting but are just as well represented by a link. Here are those links. |
a well designed sod covered roof is a brilliant idea. Not only will it insulate a home in the winter but it also aids cooling during the summer. Inhabitat wanted to highlight some great green rooftops in Norway with a slideshow of examples where green roofs were well maintained and helped make homes with them more efficient. Unfortunately, the featured image was as my kids call it, a fail. Not sure anyone is calling this place home and maybe the picture should be on uninhabited.com. Inhabitat |

GreenFest Is Coming To A City Relatively Close To You
The Green Festival, or GreenFest, is a two day event that showcases products, ideas and solutions for consuming less and reusing more. And this year, they’re celebrating their 10th anniversary having welcomed 1 million attendees. Yes, green is prominent in their name but you don’t feel Jubwinked by attending because it’s all about the vendors. If you do decide to go, definitely bring your kids too. GreenFest is very kid friendly and includes a KidZone with crafts, games and featured speakers who’ll explain ways that kids can get involved. Here is their upcoming schedule:
| 2011 Green Festival Schedule | |
| San Francisco/SF Concourse | April 9-10 |
| Chicago/McCormick Place | May 14-15 |
| Seattle/Qwest Exhibition Center | May 20-21 |
| New York/Javits Building | Oct 1-2 |
| Los Angeles/LA Convention Center | Oct 29-30 |
| San Francisco/SF Concourse | Nov 12-13 |
Now Jubbling Festival, or JubFest, is still about 3 – 20 years off but I’m working on it. For now, it occurs in my house daily and consists of me walking around in a parka telling my kids to turn stuff off.
Flashmob Video – Picking Up Plastic Bottle Brings Applause
After watching this video, I’m not sure if I’m going to be picking up plastic bottles and putting them in the recycle bin anymore. This is kind of scary.
